Jun 11, 2013. John Deere 165/175/185 Service Manual PDF's. Toy a 175 Hydro #38 snow blower #38 mower deck.
I was afraid of that, especially since JD is all about the green. Can anybody share any info on this tractor with me? I understand that it has a hydro rear end on it, but would it also have a hydro lift for the deck?
Also, I think I found out that it is a 12.5 HP Kohler motor. Is this correct? Thanks again.
Caleb No, it's not a Kohler engine, but a Kawasaki engine. But it is a 12.5 hp, same as what was on the JD 112L and the JD 160 lawn tractors. This model does not have hydraulic lift. The lift is manual. The hydrostatic transmission on this model is a light duty Eaton transmission, therefore would not support any auxiliary ports. The 165 model was part of the lawn tractor line that included the 130 (gear), 160 (gear), 170 (gear), 175 (hydro), 180 (gear) and 185 (hydro). All had Kawasaki engines with hp ranging from 9 on the 130 to 17 on the 180/185.

If your favorite tech throws in the towel because he just can’t make ends meet, then where are you? I would also point out something people might not think of - since the flat-rate prices are calculated very carefully to cover all of an appliance repair company’s expenses (including training to stay up-to-date on new appliances) and provide a living wage for the servicers, the businesses that use this system are more likely to stay in business for the long term.
This line replaced the 108, 111, 112L and 116 lawn tractors. The 165 was made from 1986 to 1988 (though the rest of that line was made until 1990). The 165 had a 2 bladed 38 inch deck. Attachments included a 38 inch snow blower and a 42 inch snow blade. It was a lawn tractor so there were no other ground engaging equipment available for it. Good little mowers, but not much else.
